About the garden
Welcome to Bangsbo Botanical Garden
When you step into Bangsbo Botanical Garden's abundance of scents and colors, it is not difficult to dream back to Bangsbo's heyday, when the gardener did his work wearing a suit and a top hat.
The garden is 8 hectares and is located at the old Bangsbo manor. The farm, which is now part of the North Jutland Coastal Museum, is located on the southern outskirts of Frederikshavn surrounded by forest and the Bangsbo River in a very exciting landscape shaped by the ice age.
Here you can experience the old English-inspired park with many benches, large lawns, old trees and gazebos. There is also a rose garden, medicinal plant garden, herb garden, historically imported fruit and berry garden and a collection of bonsai trees.

Rosa Westerland welcomes you to the Botanical Garden
If you go above the old park, you will come to the actual botanical garden, which was started in 2006 and which now consists of lakes and canals, the world's largest crevice bed with alpine plants, tuff beds also with alpine plants, forest floor beds, a rock wall of Norwegian granite and various plant collections such as the hosta collection, the geranium collection, the primrose collection and most recently, in the autumn of 2015, beds with a collection of peonies were created.
The facility for Denmark's Wild Plants was the last area in the Botanical Garden that had not yet been started at the turn of the year 2019/2020 – an application for funds to finance the construction costs had been sent to the AP Møller and Wife Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation for General Purposes, and in March 2020 the wonderful announcement came that the foundation would donate 2 million kroner to the cause. The Spar Nord Foundation was also kind enough to donate 200,000 kroner to the facility.
The work was started on August 14, 2020 with Mayor Birgit Hansen in the excavator, and the project was inaugurated at the 25th Flower Festival on June 4, 2022, where Mayor Birgit Hansen, together with Chairman of the Board Preben Reinholt and Director of Spar Nord Bank, Morten Kock, cut the red silk cord.
